Haiku Poetry Project
By: Mrs. Durrence's Classes

During our study of Japan, we wrote haikus for our poetry project. Haiku poems originated from Japan and consist of 3 lines. The poems follow a 5-7-5 syllable pattern and are traditionally about nature. For our project we had to write four poems. Two poems had to be about nature. One poem had to be about Japan, and the last one was free choice. Check our our animoto to see some examples of our poems.

North Carolina made the channel bass the state saltwater fish in 1971. They are usually found in great numbers along the Tar Heel coastal waters. The channel bass can live up to be 60 years old. The young channel bass usually weight 6 to 8 pounds. They usually have rust colored scales. The easiest way to spot the channel bass is by a black spot they have on their tail. It is sail taht the black spot on their tail is used to fool predators.
